My path into marketing didn't start in a classroom — it started on sales floors. My dad was the #1 salesman in The Kirby Company nationally for nearly 30 years, and I spent part of my childhood traveling the country with him while he worked Kirby offices across the U.S. At 16 I was in direct sales myself. By 18, managing teams. That apprenticeship — learning to read a room, test a message, and handle objections before I finished high school — is still how I think about marketing today.
I went independent in 2015 as a freelance writer and SEO strategist, and have been building marketing systems for small businesses, platforms, and agency teams ever since. Over the years the work expanded into technical SEO, analytics setup, reporting frameworks, content operations, and the SOPs that keep marketing teams from turning into expensive chaos.
In 2025 I formalized the practice as Bree Sharp, focused specifically on freelance SEO and marketing consulting for service businesses across Eastern Kentucky and beyond. I also serve as Operations Director for a digital marketing agency managing 21 clients, and I run Many Words One Voice, an editorial publication. Joining the Olive Hill Chamber of Commerce is part of being deliberately present in the community that's become my home base.
